Welcome to the Universe of Engineering, the new home of Primary Engineer.

As our programmes and schemes have evolved to encompass more teachers and pupils our name hasn’t! Primary Engineer will still focus on teachers creating an engineering curriculum in primary schools to enthuse and inspire. We now also have Early Years Engineer in re-School and to transition into primary, Secondary Engineer to carry engineering into secondary education.

This Universe of Engineering is also home to the Institution of Primary Engineers and the Institution of Secondary Engineers and our national Leaders Awards including the Scottish Engineering Leaders Award.

You will also be able to find out more information about our Master’s Level Course ‘Engineering STEM Learning’.

Primary Engineer is a not-for-profit organisation supported by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Scottish Engineering, AMS Neve and Babcock International. We are proud and fortunate to have many supporters (see our Supporter’s page) helping us to deliver a Universe of Engineering to schools across the UK.

A practical training day for teachers from an Early Years setting to embed STEM in a practical, cross-curricular manner, focused through engineering. Access to the Primary Engineer Virtual Learning Environment to resources, help and communities of practice.

Engineering is the perfect vehicle to combine aspects of the curriculum, develop deep learning and build teamworking. To facilitate these aspects, teachers are offered a practical training day alongside engineers willing to support the school, and access to a whole range of teaching resources.

Engineers are problem-solvers, pattern-sniffers, entrepreneurs, skilled and knowledgeable. They work in teams internationally. Engineers have the most sought-after skillset of any profession. Secondary Engineer aims to develop the skillsets in pupils, whilst offering ways to raise aspirations and address social mobility.
