The Primary Engineer Leaders Award – North East is a free competition designed to introduce engineering into schools and inspire children to consider how they could be part of the future of engineering. Primary and secondary schools are partnered with engineers who give their time to share their back story, knowledge and skills with a group of pupils. The inspired and enthused students are then asked: “if you were an engineer in the north east, what would you do?”
As part of this initial pilot launch, we were delighted to receive over 600 entries from ten participating schools – 18 winners were chosen from across the age range and were awarded framed certificates and trophies at St Cuthbert’s Catholic High School. Roger Anderton from The REECE Foundation presented the awards to the children along with Susan Scurlock, Chief Executive of Primary Engineer.
Schools are invited to take part by registering with firstname.lastname@example.org from September 2016.
