Early Years Engineer is an extension of the Primary Engineer® Programme. Designed for Early Years Practitioners, it provides them with opportunities to engage the children in a variety of short, small group STEM activities. A ‘suite’ of seven high-quality, planned play experiences facilitated by an adult have been created with science exploration and engineering investigation at the heart of the learning. This course focuses on three activities from the Early Years Engineer suite.
Planning for transition, these activities can be shared between Reception and Year 1. This is a practical course which will involve teachers designing, making and investigating using a variety of materials and techniques. Teachers will gain an understanding of the Early Years Engineer programme to develop Early Years investigations into STEM and support emergent science and technology learning.
Some feedback from recent training courses:
“This was definitely the best in-service day I have been on”
“We can now deliver STEM activities with confidence at our Early Years Establishment”
“I’m more confident in introducing ‘engineering’ activities as they are not as complicated as I thought”
